Hi everyone, how's ya all doing ?
Suddenly got a headache and feeling giddy now :( But I'll still blog as I have stuff to update <3
Free cotton candy. Thanks NYNY!
For me, for the past few days I've been spending my time working. Visited 5 places (1 place per day) - 4 primary schools and 1 community centre. Guiding students on Cyber Wellness in the stationery bus.
Pictures of the 5 places:
Sometimes it's kinda boring, while other times working is SUPER hectic till me and my partner will sweat in an air-conditioned room like mad. But I never once regretted applying for this job. Rlly thankful for being given the opportunity.
So I worked with only 2 colleagues so far - W and Y.
W is a bit more laid back. He's 18, from NP HMS. He's very honest, but sleepy most of the time.
Whereas for Y, he is kinda organized and might get uptight at times. He's 17, going to go to RP in one month's time. I find him very polite, gentle and tactful.
Working part-time / odd jobs do remind me of who I was in Subway. It reminds me of who I am - Work ethic yet having a healthy relationship with work, upbeat, cheerful and fulfilled.... On the other hand, I really disdain school (the focus is not on the people as there are friends that I love to death there, nor is the focus on ngee ann polytechnic, but on school in general). But anyw, that's a different subject.
-------------------------
Have been spending much time on a new hobby. ;) That is, for around, 1 month now.
It is none other than makeup and DIY-ing my own skincare! <3
Yup, I've picked it up really recent only. It's because I used to hold myself back, despite having an interest a few months before this.
I used to think, once I started putting on makeup, I would need to spend hours EACH day to put on makeup and NOT leave the house without it, and I would get insecure and hopeless without it. You see, I heard of girls who simply broke down because she tried to leave her house without any makeup. Yes, they broke down. (I'm not saying all girls with makeup are like this. I'm saying, I simply heard stories of such).
But so far, it has not been all that's mentioned above, and it's really fun putting on makeup, especially eyeshadow, for that burst of colour =) No hopelessness and insecurity whatsoever.
So Nerd bought me a 120 eye colour palette: Blue eyeshadow:
I'm an amateur in makeup btw hor! Not much of a professional.
You cant really see it, but I've blended 3 colours - White, Light Blue and Dark Blue. It turned out better than expected. :) No close up pix. Pink eyeshadow (without face makeup): I find that eyeshadow is rlly incomplete without eyeliner, mascara/falsies. It just looks incomplete without all of them. Next would be to try purple, silver, and brown eye makeup (all separately) with my eye palette <3
So that's all folks. I hope everyone (or polytechnic students that is) are having a fantastic holiday !
Hannah xoxo
Hello blog.
Lazed around at home throughout the morning and afternoon. Did some blogshop stuff. And and my eyemakeup palette and spider tripod arrived today evening! Super happy! But sad thing is I lost my spider tripod when I was out with my poly friends ): Guess it wont hurt to purchase another one for $3.50?
Though honestly, I'm rlly kinda upset about it but it cant be helped because the more I stress about losing my things....the more I panic and lose more things!! ): So I should just keep calm. ZEN.
Also, I tried the eye palette and tried with 3 different tones of blue. Turned out not bad :) Shall try the other colours and shades soon !
Anyway, it was a pretty fun and non-pocket harmful outing with Guo Xiang, Chris, Sinyee and Wanning. :)) Ate @ food court, played monopoly deal and went to watch movie. Spent only $14 which wasnt too bad. Enjoyed myself, though I am wishing our outing would be more longer. Homed at 12.30 am.
Work is tommorow yet again. 5.5 hours. With Wayne. Shall sleep soon. :)
Nerd you know I love you. I am aware of my temper so thanks for bearing with me thus far. I hope I can communicate better with you.
After watching the Tyra Banks' show on the Circus of Weight and Xiaxue's blogpost named FAT, I felt compelled to write a little something about this. Disclaimer: All the opinions below are mine, and no offence to anyone is intended. Information provided for in this blog post are according to my personal experiences and knowledge. So here are my 2 cents thoughts ^^Main reasons compelling people to lose weight Number 1: Beauty and Society & the MEDIA.I feel that the media plays a huge huge role in this issue. The media makes us perceive from young that skinnier = more attractive. Yup, it is just a perception. Why is it that people in Africa think that women with big frames are more beautiful? PERCEPTION. Thus, the same reason applies with people in our society. Some people might feel that they gotta fit in to the crowd by being slimmer to be accepted and loved by their close ones or the society as a whole. Number 2: Health reasons Being obese increases the risk of heart diseases, hypertension and diabetes. Thus people try to lose weight for health purposes to decrease the risk and keep fit.A Common Misconception of Losing WeightBasically, for losing weight, you must shed kilograms and keep it off. But most people fail to realise that the problem with some diet plans or weight loss products/services is that even IF it MIGHT help shed many kilograms, there is a bounce-back effect. Meaning that weight creeps back after losing it. However, the focus with losing weight is instead the shedding of the number of kilograms within how many months. Thus, it is essential to draft out a diet plan or weight loss plan where it would effectively shed the pounds and keep it off. How to lose weight For me, perhaps my greatest weight loss achievement was in secondary 2 when I lost 12 kg in 4 months. This was done by:-Dieting Not eating any carbohydrates at all at the first month, and then introducing carbs back into the diet but VERY LITTLE (This helps to stabilize the sugar levels in the blood, and helps to reduce cravings for sugary and carbohydrates).-Exercising 5 times per week -Right Mindset This is by having a very clear goal to work towards, and considerable amounts of determination (For me,it was a very long story. But basically I did it for chinese dance).Above all the slimming centres and weight loss products, I still believe that cutting your intake and increasing physical activity is the key to losing weight. There is simply no other way, other than the slow and hard way.Why lose weight for acceptance? Dont !As mentioned earlier, sometimes people lose weight to be accepted by their loved ones and the society..While it's not wrong to WANT and NEED to be accepted because it's a humanly need, it would do a huge amount of injustice to oneself to lose weight solely to gain the approval of others. Embrace yourself. love yourselfregardless, I repeat, regardless, of your weight.Losing weight for health VS Losing weight for beauty In my opinion, it's also not completely WRONG for people, especially women, to lose weight for beauty and I have completely no issues with losing weight for health.Losing weight for beauty is O.K. because every woman desires to be beautiful, to be cherished, to be held and loved. If it makes one happier, GO AHEAD and lose weight ! No one's stopping you :)However, this is very very key that one would ask themselves:Would you still accept yourself if you're chubby rather than skinny? One should always accept oneself and hold oneself in esteem, regardless of weight, race, or nationality. This is self esteem and unconditional love. Also, I find losing weight for health a more valid reason than beauty. This is because losing weight for health emphasizes on a long term commitment, but sometimes losing weight for beauty emphasizes on a "quick fix".Why it is wrong to call people fat Many overweight and obese people have suffered considerable amount of insults due to their weight.I will be just citing one of the commonly used words slurred at these people:"FAT" - This word has a negative connotation. It is to call an overweight/obese person, overweight AND unattractive.People who label overweight/obese people with such words not only show a lack of empathy, but are also judgmental towards them. You see, we all know about racial discrimination. But there's also discrimination against overweight people. Yes, the truth is all of us judge. Yes, the truth is overweight people are indeed overweight! But put yourself in their shoes for a moment. 1) Have you ever thought about how it feels to be called fat?2) Have you ever thought that yes they might be overweight and obese, but they have other redeeming qualities? 3) How would you feel if someone has passed a judgement or discriminated against you before even getting to know you?And NO, calling overweight people FAT because you think that you're doing them a huge favour by motivating them to lose weight is NOT a valid reason!Negative stereotypes against overweight people#1 All fat people are lazyLol. I'm definitely a living proof against this stereotype. >_<Personally, I've been struggling with my weight ever since childhood. And about laziness?Yes, I do have my lazy sundays and siestas. But at work and school, I work hard. Sometimes even too hard. Ask any one of my project mates, classmates, ex-classmates or colleagues and you'll know what I mean. And when I'm not at work and school, I live for my passions by cooking and engaging in other hobbies. So all fat people are lazy? The answer is definitely a NO.#2 All fat people have low self esteem Self esteem is self worth, or how much you value yourself. One can value themselves and love themselves REGARDLESS of their age, race, religion and weight. Yes, fat people might be discriminated against or being judged upon. BUT it's up to an individual to triumph, if not gradually, rise above what society thinks of them. #3 All fat people are smellyWe all have different natural body scents. Yes, we might sweat more. But unpleasant smells could also arise from poor personal hygiene, or body odour. It is not just sweat. And it is not just fat people as everyone sweats. Thus if you ask me, no, not all fat people are smelly, as there are many factors that might lead to an unpleasant body smell. ConclusionUntil proven wrong, there is no other way to lose weight other than cutting your intake and increasing physical activity. I'm not saying it's right to carry excess weight. I'm just saying, be slow to judge and be more careful with words. Empathize with others and their pain. So the next time you see an overweight friend/family member, tell them you love them and that they're beautiful (and mean it!).That's all for today. Goodnight lovelies.
Okay do pardon me if I sound a bit robotic. ~___~So today I woke up at 6.30am for work. Went to Qi Hua Primary School for my first day of work. Yusheng was my work partner for the day. Had work from 8-5pm. Met a grand total of 600 primary school students, mostly primary 2 and primary 4. Imagine the exhaustion after that. Primary 2 seriously listens to everything you say? They're just really innocent. Some are, not to mention, really kinda cute and adorable. xD But they're NOT adorable when they call me Auntie! :( And I think Yu Sheng is a polite person and people person. He's only 17, which I found myself being shocked. I thought he was more. I mean, seriously, it's hard to differentiate people from their ages when they're 16-20. =.= One might be super mature and tall, and you think they're 20, but who knows their still frigging sweet 16?! DAMN...SMH. Knocked off from work with tired bones and all, ate Subway for dinner.
Homed and prepared food for tmrw's anniversary dinner. * *Cross fingers cross fingers** hope it will turn out great.
After that tended to my blogshop.
Saw many interests in my Xiao Digital Instant Camera. Managed to find a buyer / swapper who is swapping with me $105 + 2 lovely Rubi clogs + 2 Clothes + 1 Zebra Skirt. Is it worth it? I sure hope so. :)) I really cant wait to see my instant camera go cos it was an impulse purchase.
Tmrw's Audit Express, then meetup with the digital instant camera swapper, then anniversary dinner with Nerd.
I hope everyone had a lovely day too. Love
Tommorow I'm starting work. Feeling kinda nervous but excited but nervous LOL. Whatever it is, let's make it rock. :)
It's reaching 11pm. Shall sleep soon, early this time :)
